Monart Drawing Studio and Prairie Center For The Arts present opening exhibition of young artists

Arlington Heights' Monart Drawing Studio and Prairie Center for the Arts, Schaumburg, present an all-new art exhibition for 2009, showcasing the artistry of students ages 4 and older. Over four dozen works will be on display beginning Sunday, May 3, and running through the end of the month.

Located at 201 Schaumburg Court, on the grounds of the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts has, for over 20 years, hosted hundreds of exhibitions and performances with some of the most renowned entertainers. However, maybe even more importantly, the Prairie Center is dedicated to the ongoing cultural enrichment of over 400 students from the surrounding area.

Commenting on the installation of its latest art exhibition, Betsy Armistead, director of Cultural Services for the village of Schaumburg, commented that, "The Prairie Center appreciates what Ellen Sharpe and her Monart program have meant to the young people in Arlington Heights and neighboring communities. Her techniques and approach to teaching not only empowers children but has also achieved some remarkable results. In fact, when visitors come and see this amazing exhibition from the hearts and hands of these youngsters, truly, the works speak for themselves."

In her 14th year, Ellen Sharpe, a licensed Monart instructor in the state of Illinois, observed, "Each year, I have been able to stage these very special art shows so that everyone can enjoy the incredible talent of a wondrous group of young students. This year I feel especially fortunate to be able to team up again with Betsy at her fantastic facility because we share a common belief that our children deserve to be celebrated for each and every achievement."

The public is welcome to attend a special gala opening reception to be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 3. Refreshments will be served. For information, contact Ellen Sharpe at (847) 788-9323.
