Meet District 23 newest board member
Prospect Heights School District 23 appointed a new board member, Randal S. DeCoursey, to fill the post vacated by Thomas D. Pawlik.
DeCoursey is the father of three children, ages 4, 9 and 14. He has a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in organizational management and a master's degree from the University of Illinois in business administration.
He's the director of customer experience at Allstate Life Insurance Company in Northbrook.
DeCoursey will begin his new post Oct. 8. His term expires next spring.
"Mr. DeCoursey's commitment to education and collaborative work ethic are impressive," said Judi Zimmerman, board president. "His business experience and leadership skills will serve the district well and I look forward to his input."
Meet the firefighters: Mount Prospect Fire Department will host its 15th open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the police and fire headquarters, 112 E. Northwest Highway.
A hot dog lunch will be provided by the Mount Prospect Kiwanis. Fire prevention activities, demonstrations and information for all ages will be available.
France in Mount Prospect: From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, the Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission will be hosting "A Mount Prospect French Market" in the Metra Commuter Parking lot in conjunction with the Lions Club Farmers' Market.
The market will feature a retro bistro sidewalk cafe, a French cooking demonstration by Dave's Specialty Foods, Brie's Gift Gallery antique bazaar, Busse Flowers bouquets, Artisan 133 fine handicrafted goods and Vino100 French wines.
Look out for Lions: All day on Friday, Oct. 10, look out for the Elk Grove Lions Club who will be volunteering on the busy intersections of the village, collecting donations to help the blind and visually impaired.
The club is recognized for its service to the blind and visually impaired.
