Sister Cities turns farmers market French for Saturday

The Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission is hosting a "Mount Prospect French Market" with the Lions Club Farmers' Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in the Metra Commuter Parking Lot along Northwest Highway at Route 83.

The French market will feature Retro Bistro sidewalk cafe, a French cooking demonstration by Dave's Specialty Foods, Brie's Gift Gallery antique bazaar, Busse Flowers Fresh cut bouquets, Artisan 133 fine handicrafted goods and Vino100 French wines. It's in addition to the regular Farmers' Market vendors.

Don't forget to vote: Eligible voters can register at the Mount Prospect Public Library's Registration Desk during regular library hours from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Applicants should have the following:

•Be a citizen of the U.S. on the day of registration. If you became a citizen while living in the U.S., you'll need to know the date you became a citizen

•Be 18 years old by Nov. 4

•Live at the registered address at least 30 days before Nov. 4

•Display two pieces of identification, which must include one piece with a current address. Acceptable forms of identification are: driver's license, State of Illinois ID, Social Security card, utility bill in applicant's name, employee or student ID, credit card, birth certificate or mail postmarked to the applicant.

Last day to register to vote is Oct. 7 for the Nov. 4 election.

Be prepared: The Mount Prospect Fire Department will be hosting a community emergency response team training class from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 8 through Nov. 9 at the Mount Prospect Police Fire Headquarters Building, 112 E. Northwest Highway. Classes are offered to Mount Prospect residents only.
