Join the fun at block party
From 4 to 9 p.m. July 26, Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring the 9th Annual Midsummer Downtown Block Party.
The party will be held at the intersection of Emerson Street and Busse Avenue in downtown Mount Prospect.
Admission is free.
Entertainment includes the Mount Prospect Park District Impulse Dance Ensemble and singer Chris Petlak.
This year, welcome back the band The Fairlanes.
Free kids' activities will include a moonwalk, climbing wall, pony rides, a mini Ferris wheel, face painting and Goofer the Clown.
Food vendors include: Blues Bar, Bogie's Ale House, Capannari's Ice Cream, Culvers of Mount Prospect, Photo's Hot Dogs, Dave & Jim's and Fannie May Candies.
The Junior Women's Club will be selling soda and bottled water. The chamber of commerce will be selling adult beverages.
Parking for the event is available in the east commuter lot at Northwest Highway and in the village hall parking deck on Emerson Street.

Senior picnic: The Mount Prospect Senior Advisory Council will hold an indoor picnic at noon Aug. 5 at the village hall community center, 50 S. Emerson Street in Mount Prospect.
Hot dogs, potato salad, lemonade, dessert and coffee will be served for only $2.
Reservations are not necessary, so just stop by.

Go to Portugal: Oakton Community College will be visiting Portugal on a travel/study tour offered next March.
