Mt. Prospect seeking new officers

The Mount Prospect Police Department is looking for new officers to join the force.

If you're interested, you must stop by the station and fill out a preliminary application form.

After you fill it out, mail or drop it off to: The Police Chief, 112 E. Northwest Highway, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.

The deadline for applications is June 17.

All applicants must stop by Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Road at 8 a.m. June 22 for a orientation meeting, written test, tutorial and physical fitness test.

At 7 a.m. June 29, there will be registration for another written test at the high school, which starts at 8 a.m.

Summer parade: The Prospect Heights Independence Day hometown parade will kick off at 9 a.m. July 4.

The parade route goes from the Prospect Crossing Shopping Center ending at the St. Alphonsus Church parking lot.

You can enter antique and classic cars, floats, decorated bicycles, walkers, big wheels, service organizations and more.

Summer hours: Oakton Community College will observe summer hours starting May 25.

The college is closed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, through Aug. 17. Summer registration continues at the Des Plaines campus, 1600 E. Golf Road, and Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave.

Eight-week courses begin the week of June 2 and seven-week courses begin the week of June 9.

During summer hours, students may register in person at both campuses, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Online registration is available at my.oakton.edu.
