Fremd grad's love for cars is now his livelihood

A few years back, I wrote a column about Kristopher Von Sydow, a local teen with a passion for showing custom cars.

Well, Von Sydow graduated from Fremd High School and headed to college, but his love of cars never faded. Now the 21-year-old has launched a business based on his zeal for fancy cars.

"I decided to start this business because of my love and passion for cars," he said. "Since I was 16, I have been working on my cars and I am now fortunate enough to be able to pursue my life's passion professionally."

Von Sydow officially opened VS Motorsports Inc. at 1045 E. Remington Road, in Schaumburg March 1. VS Motorsports Inc. is a high-performance automotive business with a relaxed, high-tech approach geared to the racing enthusiast and all automobile lovers. Its specialty is auto racing, auto crossing, drag racing, drifting, rally cars and street performance. Von Sydow and his staff of technicians are ASE Certified.

For information about the business, visit www.vsmotorsports.com.

Von Sydow also still competes in club racing. He races a BMW M3 in the BP Class.

He received a first place finish in the BP class at the Susie Bonneau Double Regional Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis., last June with the SCCA, Milwaukee Region.

He also received first place for finishing in the BP class in the Cat National Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis., with the SCCA, Milwaukee Region and first place for finishing in the BP class in the Bert Olson National, South Haven, Mich., in August with the SCCA, South Bend Region.
