Get out and enjoy life a little at Streamwood Summer Celebration

"Streamwood Safari" is the theme of this year's Streamwood Summer Celebration, which offers a family-friendly blend of festival mainstays such as live music, kids' rides and activities, a parade, food and drink, games and contests.

Hours are 5-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29-31, at Hoosier Grove Park, 700 W. Irving Park Road. Admission is free.

Main Stage entertainment on Friday includes Rosie and the Rivets at 5:30 p.m., followed by American English at 8:30 p.m. On Saturday, the lineup includes Starlights Dance Team at 1 p.m., School of Rock at 2:30 p.m., 3 Posers at 4 p.m., Serendipity at 5:30 p.m., and 7th heaven at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday, you can see Sushi Roll at 2:30 p.m., followed by Maggie Speaks at 5:30 p.m.

The parade will step off from Bartlett Road and Streamwood Boulevard at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. It will run west on Streamwood Boulevard to the festival grounds.

Games and contests include bingo daily, a water balloon toss on Friday, an egg and spoon race and beachball relay contests on Saturday, and the fire hose spray and Hula-Hoop contest on Sunday.

A golf outing will begin with breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. at Streamwood Oaks Golf Club, 565 Madison Drive, Streamwood. The cost is $50.

Other highlights include business expo booths, a children's craft area, police dog demonstrations, schoolhouse museum visits, The Frog Lady and a juggler.

Food vendors include Lee Concessions, Doggie Concessions, Churro Babes LLC, North of the Border, My Cocina Mexican Grill and Got Calzoni.

Visitors can park at Park Place, 550 S. Park Blvd.; the village hall, 301 E. Irving Park Road; and Hanover-Countryside School, 6 S. Bartlett Road.

Shuttle bus service will run from these locations, on the half-hour, from 4 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
