Oakton Community College hosts exhibit of Chicago photographer Jay Boersma's work

An exhibition of Chicago photographer Jay Boersma's work has opened at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines.

Called "Jay Boersma: The Consistency of His Vision," the exhibition runs through March 31 at Oakton's Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road.

Boersma has worked as a fine art and documentary photographer and a mixed media artist. He also was creative director for playboy.com.

The exhibition is a retrospective that presents work from Boersma's early years through later in his career, said Nathan Harpaz, the museum's manager and curator.

Among the photos are "his haunting images of empty and abandoned spaces and the sometimes colorful and always striking images of the streets in places he has traveled around the world," Harpaz said in a news release.

The museum is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is free.
