Elburn Days returns with live music, mud volleyball and fun

Elburn Days, the Elburn Lions Club's largest event of the year, returns this week to Lions Park, 500 Filmore St., Elburn. Festival hours are 5-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21; and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22. Admission is free.

Highlights include carnival rides, a beer garden, live music, food, craft show, kids' activities, a 4H auction and petting zoo, pie baking contest, car raffle and 50/50 raffle.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. Friday and is limited to 75 units. There will be a tractor and truck pull at 10 a.m. Saturday and mud volleyball on Sunday. Thursday, Aug. 19 is the last day to register to play mud volleyball.

Live musical acts will rock out on the Main Stage, located at the south end of the park near the beer garden, along Stetzer Avenue. The schedule includes the following bands:

Friday

5:30-7 p.m.: Black Oil Brothers

8-11 p.m.: Back Country Roads

Saturday

Noon-3 p.m.: Dustin Olson (in beer garden)

4-7 p.m.: Head Honchos

8-11 p.m.: The Hair Band Night

Sunday

Noon-3 p.m.: Paul and Jay (in beer garden)

4:30-6 p.m.: Blue Water Kings

7-10 p.m.: Howard and the White Boys

Food will be sold at different locations on the festival grounds. Hungry festivalgoers can choose from bratwurst, hot dogs, sweet corn, taco in a bag, pork chop sandwiches, rib-eye sandwiches, Lion Phil Gladd's famous pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, root beer floats, ice cream bars, hot pretzels, chips, cookies and a variety of beverages.

The Elburn Chamber of Commerce will hold a craft show from 5-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Kids' activities and entertainment will take place at the Community Stage just east of the clubhouse in the center of the park. The lineup includes dance performances; a glow party; kids' games and contests; a roaming magician; face painting; hip-hop and jazz lessons and more.

Parking is free, but a $5 per car donation is appreciated, and nonperishable food items will be accepted in lieu of cash donations.
