Concerts, classic cars returning to Cantigny Park

Free Sunday concerts and classic car cruise nights are returning to Cantigny Park in Wheaton this summer after both were suspended last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Our summer events calendar is filling up fast," Cantigny Park Executive Director Matt LaFond said in a statement. "It's exciting to announce that live music is returning to the park."

So far, Cantigny has scheduled six 3 p.m. Sunday concerts, starting with the classic rock band Voyage on June 13. Other acts include Dancing Queen: An ABBA Tribute (June 20), The Fortunate Sons (June 27), Dwayne Dopsie & The Zydeco Hellraisers (July 18), June's Got the Cash (July 25) and the R&B band MAC 180 (Aug. 15).

The Substitutes, the 2019 winner of Cantigny's Battle of the Bands, will also play an 11:30 a.m. concert Sunday, June 27.

Though the concerts are free, Cantigny is requiring advance registration online to acquire tickets via Eventbrite.com. No walk-ups are allowed at this point so Cantigny can properly control audience capacity to align with COVID-19 regulations.

Cantigny also welcomes back classic car enthusiasts for its Cruise Night Tuesdays from 5 to 8 p.m. starting May 25. Visitors are invited to bring their restored vehicles those evenings. The First Division Museum at Cantigny Park also plans to display military vehicles from its historic collection on select Tuesdays.

Cantigny Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to sunset, and an extra hour past sundown on Wednesdays. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and $10 on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer starting June 5. There is free parking for the first Wednesday of the month.
