Green Oaks man builds snowman 20 feet high

If you have been in the area of Green Oaks near Libertyville recently, you may have noticed an unusually large snowman.

Meetal Gandhi, who lives on Fox Run Road, spent the better part of three days building a 20-foot snowman that could be described as giant. His goal? To bring smiles to the faces of all who see it.

"The most interesting bit, I think, is that I used no ladders and no shovels, just fully bare hands," said Gandhi about his construction techniques.

The giant snow sculpture grew from the normal three-snowball-size to five snowballs, and then finally seven.

Gandhi has spent a fair amount of time on the project, spending five and a half hours the first day, three hours the second day, and two and a half hours the third day.

"Everyone that has passed by has had their jaws drop, mouths wide open, smiles, taken pictures, complimented me profusely," he said.

Gandhi said that he initially started the project to keep his mind off things.

"Then I thought it would make my elderly dad, mom, 95-year-old Lola (grandmum) and 86-year-old Foi (Auntie) smile," he said.

After that, he said, he realized many other people passing by would get a kick out of it, so he continued working to make it as grand as possible.

"I'm going outside now in the snow to continue making an even bigger one," Gandhi said.
