Cachas Tacos Bar serves up Mexican food in Lake in the Hills

There is a new authentic Mexican restaurant open along the Randall Road corridor, ready to fill you up when you're in the mood for tacos on Tuesdays - or any other day of the week.

Cachas Taco Bar opened at the end of 2019 in Lake in the Hills, just east of Randall Road at 2122 W. Algonquin Road.

While they serve up many authentic Mexican dishes, such as carne al carbon and enchiladas verdes, Cachas Taco Bar is known for its 99 cent tacos on Tuesdays, co-owner Luis Zepeda said.

Patrons often stop in and leave with bags full of the tacos, choosing from asada, al pastor, pollo, carnitas and chorizo, he said.

“We are known for our food, our authentic Mexican food, and especially taco Tuesday,” Zepeda said.

Zepeda and his co-owners run four other similar taco businesses throughout the suburbs, and he says overall on Tuesdays they sell thousands of the 99 cent tacos between the five businesses in Hanover Park, Wheeling, Mount Prospect and Carpentersville.

The new Mexican restaurant in Lake in the Hills serves up food to go, and also has dine-in options, including a bar area and restaurant tables. Tacos can be served up the authentic way or the Americanized way.

The restaurant opened in December in a spot left by the popular Tacos El Norte business on the north side of Algonquin Road.

It was a natural fit for the strip center, which hosted the popular El Norte for many years, and also has other ethnic cuisine businesses, including the area staple Lily Garden Chinese restaurant.
