New products commemorate Black History Month

Beyond the Barack Obama merchandise, retailers have several new items to commemorate Black History Month.

Nordstrom, for example, put out a special CD called "The Royal Blues - Celebrating the Queens of Blues and Jazz." The compilation features songs like Ella Fitzgerald's "Just A Sittin' and a Rockin'," Billie Holiday's "Love Me or Leave Me," and an exclusive track by up-and-coming jazz singer Lizz Wright. The CD is $18.95, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

With Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in mind, Hidalgojewelry.com is offering a gold and diamond "DREAM" ring for $1,260. The diamond guards are an additional $1,232 each.

For children, there's a new series of black history books by Gallopade International -- and the collection is up-to-date: The newest book features President Obama. Prices vary. Visit www.gallopade.com.

The Zarovskys' new 3,500-square-foot, state-of-the-art, full-service salon and spa will focus on wellness, cleanliness and customer service, with touches like a complementary espresso/juice bar.

ZaZa Salon's grand opening will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. Food, drinks, raffles, freebies, mini-treatments and more will be available and the public is invited to attend. For more information, call (847) 793-1111 or visit www.zazasalon.com.

Need a vacation?

Wait, there's a scuba diving trip to Key West, Florida, for only $24? What's the catch? Well, you don't actually go there. You pop in the "HD2O - The Keys" DVD and watch more than an hour of underwater footage on your TV or computer. See www.hd2o.tv for details.
