Area remodelers recognized for work
The NAHB Remodelers of Greater Fox Valley held its First Annual "Best of the Fox" Remodeling Awards in 2007. Local remodelers were invited to enter their best projects in the categories of Room Addition, Kitchen Remodel, Bath Remodel, Interior Renovation, and Exterior Renovation. All of the projects submitted also competed against each other for Ultimate Design and People's Choice.
"The 'Best of the Fox' Awards were developed as a way to recognize outstanding quality and workmanship within the remodeling industry," explained Ray Budde, executive officer of the Home Builders Association of Greater Fox Valley and Remodelers. "These companies exemplify those attributes at the highest level."
The first place winner for the "Best of the Fox" People's Choice Award was Blackberry Builders, Inc. of Elburn for their kitchen remodel. D. Dorrance & Son Builders, LLC of St. Charles received second and third place for their bath remodel and room addition respectively. The People's Choice winners were determined by the public voting at the Old House New House Home Show in October at Pheasant Run and on the Internet. Before and after photos were available of each project for voters to view and decide which project they found most impressive.
The projects in the other categories were judged by a panel of industry peers on the criteria of best use of space, money, originality, and overall impression. In Ultimate Design, first place was taken by Red Oak Builders for their Exterior Renovation of a house in St. Charles. D. Dorrance & Son Builders LLC was awarded second place for their bath remodel and McDowell, Inc. of St. Charles received third place on their kitchen remodel.
The top award winners in the remaining categories were Blackberry Builders, Inc. (tied for first in Room Addition), D. Dorrance & Son Builders LLC (Room Addition, Bath Remodel and Interior Renovation), McDowell, Inc of St. Charles (Kitchen Remodel) and Red Oak Builders (Exterior Renovation).
Other winners included BGH Construction Co., Inc. (third place in Room Addition), Crimson Design & Construction (second place in Kitchen Remodel), Blackberry Builders, Inc. (third Place in Kitchen Remodel), Country Construction (second place in Interior Renovation), D. Dorrance & Son Builders LLC (2nd place in Exterior Renovation) and McDowell, Inc. of St. Charles (third place in Exterior Renovation).
