Endorsements: Kammes, Figueroa, Wolfe for Winfield Dist. 34 school board

Voters in Winfield District 34 will pick from four candidates running for three seats on the next board.

Incumbents Lynn Kammes and Norm Bothwell are joined by challengers Manuel Figueroa and Alisa Wolfe.

Kammes is a longtime Winfield resident and District 34 board member.

Bothwell, who did not take part in the endorsement process, has two children enrolled in the district.

Figueroa has three sons and is eager to work on the board to continue to improve the district.

Wolfe is a longtime district resident with one child currently in the district and another who graduated from the district.

Unlike many challengers in other school board races, Figueroa and Wolfe are both complimentary of the way the district has handled the pandemic.

The current board appears to have met the challenges they faced last spring and this fall as well as any district in the suburbs.

We can't endorse Bothwell because he didn't take part in the process. We're confident Kammes, Figueroa and Wolfe represent an excellent cross section of experience and new spirit and they get our endorsement.

Manuel Figueroa
Alisa Wolfe
