Endorsement: Pecak for Lisle mayor

Four years ago, Lisle residents decided they wanted a change and voted out a four-term mayor, giving the reins to Christopher R. Pecak, who is now seeking a second term in the April 6 election. He is facing challenges from two sitting trustees, Stephen Winz and Sara Sadat.

Pecak has held true to his promise of fiscal responsibility, maintaining a flat tax levy for all four years. He points to paying down a $6 million loan, a reversal of the growing deficit in the police pension fund and an increase of the assessed property values as signs he is serving Lisle well. With the goal of smoothing the process for developers to choose Lisle, his administration is guiding the large undertaking of updating zoning codes and is spearheading the development of the Lisle Economic Development Partnership, which will work to promote economic growth and stability in Lisle.

Candidates Sadat and Winz also are focused on improving Lisle's reputation among developers, with Winz touting endorsements from several business owners and the public works union.

Pecak does face a sometimes-adversarial relationship with some trustees and he should work to improve this so the group can focus on serving and bettering Lisle.

Pecak's work to improve Lisle's financial position and become development-friendly is ongoing and he deserves a chance to see the initiatives he started through to the next stage. Pecak is endorsed.
