Publicize reports on infrastructure spending

For several generations, politicians have been telling Illinois taxpayers that the money taken from them will be used to maintain our infrastructure. For several generations, Illinois taxpayers have been watching our infrastructure decay. Now, Illinois taxpayers have been clobbered with a huge gasoline tax increase and a huge increase in automotive registration costs. Once again, the politicians are telling the Illinois taxpayers that these huge increases in money being taken from them will be used to repair and maintain our infrastructures.

Well, I wonder if our politicians consider themselves and those feeding at the political troughs to be infrastructure. They have used taxpayer money to give themselves generous raises.

Our politicians, especially our tax-and-spend governor, must be held accountable for any and all money being used for infrastructure repair and maintenance.

A report should be published at least monthly listing all infrastructure projects in the entire state of Illinois. This report should include the names of the contractors the money allocated for each project, the progress being made and the up to date expenditure for each project. Completed projects should contain total costs, time and any savings or overruns.

The people of Illinois deserve this report. For too many years, money promised for infrastructure repairs has been diverted for other purposes more favorable to the politicians receiving the benefits.

If the media is willing to do anything for the people of Illinois it will go after the responsible politicians to ensure that this information is published in a timely manner. Just making this information available on the internet is not satisfactory. It must be made public through the media for all Illinois taxpayers to see.
