Ives right for COD
I write in response to Daniel McCallum's erroneous April 6 letter to the Daily Herald editor. We are fortunate to have Jeanne Ives on the committee to select the next president of the College of DuPage.
Former state Rep. Ives aggressively fought for Illinois taxpayers and families during her tenure in Springfield. Her leadership also ushered in a new era of transparency at COD by welcoming Dr. Ann E. Rondeau, a former U.S. Navy Vice Admiral, as the school's sixth (first female) president.
President Rondeau's success at the College of DuPage was due in large part to Jeanne Ives' rigor and the committee's forward-thinking. By selecting a servant leader who chose to put the community first, we were able to write a new chapter after the Robert Breuder embarrassment.
LGBTQ+ and other minority students enjoyed their rights and were welcomed with open arms during Rondeau's respective tenure at COD. And fortunately, that continues today. McCallum seems more interested in slandering Ives' good name rather than having an open and honest discussion regarding the diversity of thought.
