Koske, Marr, Moore for Fox Lake trustee

Three sitting members of the Fox Lake Village Board are running to retain their seats, and we see no reason why they shouldn't succeed.

Former Fox Lake mayor Nancy Koske (2001-2005) rejoined the board as a trustee in 2007, and was re-elected in 2011 and 2015. Trustee Brian Marr was appointed in 2013 and elected in 2015. Danice "Dani" Moore was appointed in January 2018 and is running for her first full-length term.

Moore, 35, is a relatively young trustee, and brings enthusiasm and ideas. Koske and Marr have the institutional knowledge that keeps a board grounded. All of them embrace, and understand the importance of Fox Lake's welcome re-emergence as a place for economic development.

But having Koske, Marr and Moore return to the board also brings continuity, something the village has sorely lacked in recent history. If Fox Lake's leadership can stay the course, with any luck, so can its economic development.

The fourth candidate running, Glenn Close, has been at war with the village over the maintenance of his own personal property for years. He is running on a platform that the village needs to be more transparent with the public. And while we find the incumbents to be entirely feeble in their protestations that it is too expensive to videotape and rebroadcast village board meetings (Close has started doing it himself), we also believe Close would bring too much personal baggage to the board to be an effective member.

Koske, Marr and Moore are endorsed.
