Baumer a better choice than Crespo for 44th House

I was more than surprised when the Daily Herald recently endorsed (state Rep. Fred) Crespo largely because he has been in Springfield for 11 years; in doing so, ignoring Katy Dolan Baumer's more than 20 years in elected Hanover Township office and Poplar Creek Library Board as well as 25 years of active civic leadership in organizations such as the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce, Village of Streamwood Commisioner, Lions Club District Chairman and School District U-46 Education Foundation Secretary. The list is even more extensive.

Furthermore, from the endorsement it's pretty obvious the Daily Herald is content with "business as usual" in Springfield, praising Crespo for "bringing home the bacon," saying we "would be giving up a lot" to elect Baumer.

I say the Crespo bacon costs way too much: He voted to raise income taxes by 32 percent, voted for a resolution in favor of a graduated income tax, and washed his hands of a horrible budget by not even bothering to vote one way or another.

Crespo is a Springfield crony. The choice is clear for me and I urge voters to send Baumer to Springfield. She knows our community, and has worked tirelessly to make it a better place to live and work.
