Focus on the budget

One thing I learned about economics a long time ago is that the pie is only so big. If one person gets a bigger slice, everyone else gets a smaller piece. Applied to the finances in our state, I would like to know how the candidates for governor and state legislature plan on dealing with the state budget? How are we going to pay off our debt, and the ever increasing interest payments on that debt? What taxes and "fees" will be increased? What programs will be cut to free up money to pay for the present and future obligations that have already be committed? How are we going to pay for increased benefits and programs that the candidates are talking about?
