Leeco Steel employee receives AWMI award

LISLE - Leeco Steel, the largest supplier of steel plate in North America, said one of its employees, Donna Gencius, received the AWMI Chicago Chapter's Volunteer of the Year Award during a holiday event.

The Chicago Chapter of the Association of Women in the Metals Industry (AWMI), an organization that supports and encourages the growth of women in the metals industry, annually recognizes one of its members as Volunteer of the Year for her efforts to support chapter events and organizational values.

Gencius has been a member of AWMI for 14 years and previously served on the Chicago Chapter's board of directors.

Leeco Steel reached 15 years as an AWMI Corporate Member in 2022 and was honored with the Chicago Chapter's Company of the Year Award in 2019 and 2010.

"Being a member of AWMI is important to Leeco, and employees like Donna play a key role in our support of the organization," said Ryan Murphy, vice president of purchasing at Leeco Steel. "Donna regularly volunteers at chapter events and has been instrumental in encouraging employees at our Lisle office to get involved with the organization."
