Northwest Community proposes to replace two Schaumburg outpatient buildings with one

A proposed renovation of Northwest Community Healthcare's outpatient care campus in Schaumburg includes consolidating the services of its two 40-year-old buildings into one new facility.

The village's zoning board of appeals on Wednesday will hear the plan to replace the professional building at 455 S. Roselle Road and the immediate care center at 519 S. Roselle Road with a three-story, 62,956-square-foot facility.

Though the new building would use the address 519 S. Roselle, it would be closer to the site of the previous professional building at 455 S. Roselle on the shared campus.

Preparations for the change already have begun, according to Allen Jensen, executive director of facilities for Northwest Community Healthcare.

All staff and services at the professional building have been moved to the immediate care center to accommodate the demolition of the professional building that's already under way, he said.

There they will stay and ensure there are no interruption of services until the new building's anticipated completion around the early autumn of 2023.

After that, the old immediate care center would be demolished and replaced with additional parking.

Services at the new facility would include physician evaluation and management services, imaging services, cardiac diagnostics, physical therapy and a lab draw site.

The immediate care center would occupy a one-story portion of the new building with eight exam rooms.

There would be no emergency or inpatient services at the facility.

Staffing would be about 30 to 45 employees from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 25 to 30 people from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

The zoning board's recommendations for the project will be considered by the village board when it makes its decision on final approval at the Aug. 9 meeting.
