Geneva startup to receive Exelon environmental grant

GENEVA - The Exelon Foundation and Exelon Corp. have selected nine startups to receive funding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change, including ClearFlame in Geneva.

ClearFlame's patented engine technology enables diesel engines to run on decarbonized liquid fuels without sacrificing performance or practicality, driving the fastest path to true emissions reduction in heavy-duty industry, Exelon said in a news release.

Also receiving funding is Chicago-based Varuna, whose software platform generates digital representations of water systems and utility buildings, allowing operators to better manage those systems.

The grants are part of Exelon's Climate Change Investment Initiative, now in its second year. Over 10 years, the Exelon Foundation is contributing $10 million to fund the initiative.

Exelon Corp. is a Fortune 100 energy company with the largest number of electricity and natural gas customers in the U.S. It is the parent company of ComEd.
