​Life Time said it its expanding its footprint and plans to open Life Time Athletic Northbrook this fall.

The 86,000-square-foot-fitness, family recreation, spa and country club-style resort will offer a new health experience to the area, the company said.

This is the company's first new athletic club in the region in more than a decade. Once officially open, the $40 million destination will employ more than 200 individuals. A Preview Center is now available for prospective members to learn more about the healthy living, healthy aging and healthy entertainment experience for which the company is known.

"We are thrilled to bring our first Life Time in more than 10 years to Chicagoland and bring our healthy way of life experience to the Northbrook area," said Tim Kersten, senior general manager of Life Time Athletic Northbrook. "We strive to bring the best of the best to our guests, offering activities for everyone helping them to achieve their health objectives and fitness goals."

Located on Skokie Boulevard just south of Dundee Road and I-94, the new Northbrook location will feature resort-like amenities as well as a broad array of highly personalized programs and services to help its members achieve their fitness goals, athletic aspirations and total health objectives, the company said.
