6 restaurants announced for new Woodfield Mall dining pavilion

Blaze Fast Fire'd Pizza, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Charley's Philly Steaks are among the first six restaurants of more than a dozen fast-casual options expected in Woodfield Mall's new dining pavilion opening this summer.

They'll be joined by Maoz Falafel and Grill, Suki Hana and Wok A Holic, mall officials say.

The new pavilion, first announced in January 2017, will be on the upper level of the Sears wing with large windows providing outdoor views and natural light.

The pavilion will expand on the more than 30 existing restaurants scattered throughout the mall.

In a sneak-peek video shown at Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson's state of the village presentation last month, Woodfield Mall General Manager Kurt Webb explained that when the first regional shopping malls were built, the importance of dining options wasn't recognized.

But the new pavilion will include permanent space for 12 eateries, potential for additional kiosks, and seating for 820 people.

The project is seen as a further progression of the major upgrade the mall's common areas have seen in recent years.

"Like every other phase of our style evolution, this state-of-the-art dining pavilion is designed to exceed traditional expectations," Webb said in the announcement of the pavilion's first tenants. "From the sleek, contemporary layout, to the range of compelling fast-casual dining options, the new dining pavilion promises to elevate visitors' overall shopping experience and further position Woodfield Mall as the market's leading retail destination."
