Polish restaurant serves all meals in Arlington Heights

Agnes Zietek is bringing a little piece of Poland to Arlington Heights.

Zietek, who immigrated here six years ago, launched a Polish restaurant at 6 S. Dunton Ave., just south of Campbell Street, about three months ago.

Zietek first called the eatery Brama Bread, but is now changing it to Brama Restaurant to better describe the establishment that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

"This was my dream. My family had a restaurant in Poland. I wanted to serve Polish food here in Arlington Heights," she said.

For breakfast, the eatery serves an array of omelets, eggs, Belgian waffles, crepes, potato pancakes and other traditional plates.

Items on the lunch and dinner menu include stuffed cabbage, grilled Polish sausage, schnitzel Polish-style, salads and pierogies. The pierogies come filled with potatoes and cheese, kraut and mushrooms and meat and mushrooms. Six pierogies sell for $4.99, while 12 are $7.99. Sandwiches and hot paninis are also served, said Zietek, who lives in Arlington Heights with here two children and husband, Slawek, an electrical engineer.

"I love cooking. I'm always cooking for my family," said the new business owner.

Zietek, 42, said she does a great deal of the cooking at the eatery along with a Polish chef who works with her. "Everything is made from scratch. I try to keep things healthy," said the owner of the 50-seat restaurant.

"The idea is to show customers a good, home-cooked meal," she said.

The eatery is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. It's closed Monday.
