Audition for CLC theater's 'Lions in Illyria' Aug. 23-24

Performers ages 16 or older are invited to audition for College of Lake County theater department's young audience production of "Lions in Illyria."

Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, and Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Studio Theatre, 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

The show is about a young lioness named Violet, who gets separated from her brother by a sea storm and must brave an unknown country all alone. She disguises herself as a boy and finds work helping a preposterous peacock win the love of the most graceful gazelle in town.

Her adventures take a wacky turn, and Violet finds herself entangled in the clownish antics of a warthog and his featherbrained sidekick.

Those auditioning need to prepare a 60- to 90-second comedic or children's play monologue. Actors need only attend one day of auditions and should bring an acting résumé, if they have one, and a recent photo or headshot, or email them to director Alicia Hall at ahall1@clcillinois.edu.

Callbacks will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.

Rehearsals will be from 6:30-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday beginning Monday, Aug. 29. Performers must be available for every rehearsal from Monday, Sept. 19, through the performances.

Performances will be Friday to Sunday, Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
