Champions Run to aid schools' wrestling programs

Area residents are invited to challenge themselves while participating in the third annual Champions Run on Saturday, July 16. The event starts in Palatine at Deer Grove East, 1599 Pepper Tree Drive, and ends with an after party at Tap House Grill, 56 W. Wilson St.

The 10K starts at 8 a.m., and the 5K starts at 8:10 a.m.

The Palatine and Fremd High School Wrestling Programs will receive 100% of the proceeds from this event.

In addition to walkers and runners, caregivers with children in strollers are invited to get in on the fun. All participants will receive a Dri-Fit shirt, finisher pint glass and a complimentary beverage and breakfast sandwich at Tap House Grill.

"There is no better way to spend a Saturday than running to raise money for a local cause," said Aaron Del Mar, ASE founder. "I was a Palatine High School wrestler, my sons are on the wrestling team at Fremd High School, and I am proud to be raising money for a sport that I hope to see my grandchildren participate in one day."

Awards and a customized Champions Run 5K medal will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers and the top three male and female runners in each age group. The awards ceremony will be held at the after party immediately following the race.
