Citadel Theatre Education Program is Sure to Inspire

(Lake Forest, IL) For almost 20 years, Citadel Theatre, a professional non-profit theatre in Lake Forest, IL has been at work growing the next generation of thespians through their education programs. Their education program's mission is to "Create, Discover, and Explore the Artist Within," with classes tailored to every phase of a young artist's needs. This summer, they continue to educate our community with their summer camps!

But it is more than just running these programs for Citadel Theatre, they believe that all children regardless of background or resources deserves to build the skills that theatre has to offer. Through their program CitadelCares, they are able to offer thousands of dollars in scholarships every year so students can come, collaborate, and create a story for all to enjoy.

Citadel's summer camp program fosters a sense of community by welcoming students of all levels to not only have fun but to nurture a love and deeper understanding of theatre. Actors will experience a variety of enrichment classes, in addition to rehearsing exciting, age-appropriate shows, culminating in two performances on the Citadel stage. This summer two camps are running, Legally Blonde Jr. (5th-10th grade) and Rainbow Fish The Musical! (1st-4th grade). Citadel is especially excited since this will be the first time back since 2019 that they will run both camp programs at full scale!

Amber Krcmar, Citadel Theatre's Education Director has this to say about the program,

"There is so much more to theatre than the stage. Through theatre, all children are equal and free to explore. What's exciting about Citadel Theatre's acting program is that we are not only teaching the fundamentals of being on stage, but we are also encouraging and providing a safe space for the development of lifelong skills such as creative thinking, cooperation, and self-awareness. These skills are necessary for the stage, as well as essential to thrive in any professional environment."

Camp begins June 13th - July 9th (NO CAMP JULY 4th and 5th). Performance Dates: Friday, July 8th & Saturday, July 9th, 2022. Performance Location: Citadel Theatre Hours of Camp: Monday - Friday, 9am-1pm. Cost: $995. For more information call Amber Krcmar at 847-735-8554 ext. 2, or visit www.citadeltheatre.org/summer-camp.
