Get your perennials at Palatine Garden Club sale
Seventy-five years is a long time to continue pulling weeds to ensure beautiful flowers, but the Palatine Garden Club has done just that and will once again share their blooming bounty.
On Saturday, May 21, the club will host its annual Spring Perennial Sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palatine Farmers Market, near the Metra Station, 137 W. Wood St., downtown Palatine.
All plants at the sale are perennials, which means they are investment plants. They come back every year. Lovingly dug from members' own gardens, they survive and thrive in local conditions.
There will be quite a variety at the sale, including many native plants, great for the pollinators. Members will also be there to share plant ideas, care tips and knowledge with everyone who stops by, whether or not a purchase is made.
The club is an institution in Palatine history. Club president Holly Petersen and fellow member Ellen Manint are both Master Gardeners who manage the plantings at Palatine's historical Clayson House.
This sale is the club's only fundraiser. Proceeds allow the club to continue its community work and feature speakers for its members. Information will also be available for anyone who wants to join this group.
