Chicago Muslim Medical Alliance offers tribute to healthcare heroes at Ramadan dinner

The Chicago Muslim Medical Alliance held its annual Ramadan Solidarity Iftar on Thursday, April 14, at Shalimar Banquets in Addison.

Physicians from all over the Chicago area attended the event, held in partnership with the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago. The Chicago Muslim Medical Alliance is the largest network of Muslim physicians in Illinois.

During the event, the alliance thanked all health care workers and public health employees throughout the Chicago area for their tireless efforts to provide the best possible care for residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite extremely difficult conditions and personal risk to themselves. Several health care workers received an award.

The event was attended by many elected officials, community leaders, and community members. Dr. Tajammul Hussain is the president of the Chicago Muslim Medical Alliance and has done great social and charity work in the Chicago area for many years.

Dr. Tajammul Hussain said, "I am saluting healthcare workers who risk their lives to protect citizens are unforgettable during the time of Covid pandemic."

Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Tariq Kareem gave his appreciation for the leading role of the medical community during the pandemic. "All doctors and healthcare staff are our heroes."
