Fox Valley Women's March to hold 'Unity in the Community' drive-up donation event Jan. 29

We Can Lead Change-Fox Valley is calling on its Fox Valley Women's March supporters to again help people in most need through a "Unity in the Community 2022 Day of Action" drive-up donation event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29.

Since the onset of the pandemic, WCLC-FV has shifted its focus from the successful Fox Valley Women's March to assisting with the financial devastation COVID-19 has caused for area families.

The group will collect baby wipes, new mittens for kids, travel-sized women's hygiene products, women's feminine products, new adult winter gloves, bandages, ibuprofen, acetaminophen and antibiotic ointment at four drive-up sites.

Last year, the First Day of Giving gathered over $10,000 worth of donations for community shelters.

Donations will be given to Mutual Ground and Hesed House in Aurora; Lazarus House in St. Charles; the Elgin Partnership for Early Learning, and the Community Crisis Center in Elgin.

The drop-off locations are:

• St. Charles - Timbers Office parking lot, 220 W. River Drive, across from Boy Scout Island on Route 31.

• Elgin's east side - Danny's Pizza, 231 Douglas Ave.; buy a $5 pizza slice and Danny's will donate $2.

• Elgin's west side - A private home at 210 Wing Blvd.

• Aurora - Judge Cruz for Justice headquarters, 605 N. Broadway Ave.

Those who prefer to shop online may order directly from the We Can Lead Change 2022 Day of Giving Amazon list.

Petitions for candidates looking to run in the November election also will be available for interested registered voters to sign. Community donations are welcome from all with no obligation to sign political nominating petitions.
