Multi-sensory celebration at Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva

The holiday season is a truly multi-sensory celebration at Friendship Village of Schaumburg and GreenFields of Geneva. The lifestyles teams at the senior living communities operated by Friendship Senior Options have pulled out all stops to ensure that the residents have a fantastic time leading up to and including the winter holidays.

The communities are both lavishly and lovingly decorated with beautifully festooned trees and abundant colorful lighting. Festive foods, visiting choirs, movies and more have been part of the holiday celebrations.

GreenFields has had holiday-themed speakers, movies, crafts, cocktail parties, and a gala with a fabulous four-course dinner and live five-piece orchestra. GreenFields' New Year's Eve party will feature a wine tasting from Geneva Wine Cellars and delectable truffles from Grahams Chocolates.

"We are so excited to bring some of the wonderful and unique products from local Geneva businesses into the community for our residents to sample and enjoy,"said Karen Tomko, Community Engagement manager.

Friendship Village's holiday décor includes an entire hallway dubbed Candy Cane Lane. Their first annual Holiday Hootenanny included a full week of silly and fun events, including a reindeer Nerf gun hunt, an ornament exchange, and games. They also had Santa and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Parties were held at both communities for residents and staff and families.

"It's been intergenerational, with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We've gotten so many thank-you notes from people who have been enjoying the celebrations," said Jill Steco, director at Friendship Village.

Her lifestyles team is already planning on making the season even bigger and brighter for next year.
