Wheaton hosting community meetings on flood improvement plans

Wheaton officials will host a pair of community meetings next week as they prepare to begin a flood improvement capital project addressing the area of Dorset Drive and Dorset Park, near the intersection of Butterfield and Orchard roads.

The meetings, geared to residents in the area, will be at 5 and 5:45 p.m. Monday at city hall, 303 W. Wesley St. Affected residents will be able to learn about the project in greater detail and ask questions about the plans, though the meetings are open to all interested residents.

Over the past three years, the city has completed 17 flood studies and identified 15 possible flood improvement projects as a result. The Dorset project marks the beginning of an extensive process to reduce flooding in Wheaton and improve the city's infrastructure. Information on all 17 flood studies, along with past presentations on flood-prone areas, can be found on the city's website, www.wheaton.il.us/.
