ESO's Pop Series kicks off 'Rocky Horror' tribute

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra's Pops series will kick off with a tribute to a cult classic.

"Time Warp - The Music of Rocky Horror" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16-17, at the Hemmens, 45 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin. The concert, led by conductor Stephen Squires, will feature guest artists Jeans 'n Classics.

Come dressed as your favorite character! You might not have Rocky's perfect build, but you could still make a convincing Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Columbia, Riff-Raff, or just yourself.

While they encourage audience participation, leave the toast, toilet paper, hot dogs, and rice at home for this concert. Shirt and shoes are required.

The song repertoire will feature "Time Warp," "Sweet Transvestite," "Science Fiction/Double Feature," "Over at the Frankenstein Place," "Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul," and more.

Tickets, $65, must be purchased in advance at elginsymphony.org or at the ESO box office, (847) 888-4000. They will not be available at the concert. Guests are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to attendance.

Jeans 'n Classics is a group of musicians that understands orchestra culture and is committed to help in the building of younger, loyal audiences for symphony orchestras across North America. Jeans 'n Classics appeals to an age group from, but not limited to, 25 to 65.

While most definitely not a tribute act, Jeans 'n Classics faithfully interprets the music of legendary rock and pop albums and artists with their own signature flair. For more, visit www.jeansnclassics.com.
