2021 Bill Pelz Global Speaker Series continues conversation on COVID-19

Elgin Community College will host a Bill Pelz Global Speaker Series event titled "COVID-19: From Global Pandemic to Global Endemic?" on Tuesday, Oct. 5, as part of ECC's International Week activities. It will be from 2 to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

This series is sponsored by the ECC Global/International Studies Taskforce (GIST) and the Multicultural and Global Initiatives Committee (MAGIC).

Featured panelists for the event include ECC faculty Luis Martinez, M.D., professor of biology, and Kimberly Tarver, MPH, PT, professor of physical therapy assistant.

With backgrounds in health and health care, the panelists will discuss how COVID-19's evolving state will implement the global community and what that shift means from scientific, medical, and societal perspectives.

The Bill Pelz Global Speaker Series was named in memory of the late William Pelz, Ph.D., who taught history and political science at ECC for more than 19 years.

The event will be moderated by GIST co-chairs, ECC professor Dr. Christina Marrocco, and Lauren Nehlsen, Ph.D., director of international education and programs.
