Keller Jr. High PTA in Schaumburg named National PTA School of Excellence

The Helen Keller Junior High School PTA in Schaumburg has received the top National PTA School of Excellence designation by earning the 2021 Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Family-School Partnership Award.

National PTA's School of Excellence program is a yearlong commitment to improving family-school partnerships. Throughout the year, PTAs and schools collect feedback from their school communities to create and implement plans of action to make a difference for every child.

Through the School of Excellence program, PTAs and families become key partners in decision-making and school improvement efforts. The program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long-term results.

"We are thrilled to honor the accomplishments of Helen Keller Junior High School PTA and all of the 2020-2022 Schools of Excellence in Illinois," said Carolyn McCarty, president of the Illinois Parent Teacher Association. "The efforts of these PTAs to engage families have resulted in a positive impact on our students. Family engagement is a critical component of the PTA vision, as we recognize parents are key partners in helping students learn in-school and at home."
