Register for D214 Adult Education and Family Literacy classes
Instructors at District 214 Adult Education and Family Literacy are looking forward to welcoming students back to their classrooms for in-person learning this fall.
"We are excited to have students in person, especially for the hands-on parts of the manufacturing and pharmacy technician classes," said Julie Frost, an adult education instructor.
"It will be nice to hear the excited voices in person again. I like a classroom filled with conversation."
Registration for the fall session is now open. Students can register on The Adult Education and Family Literacy website, ce.d214.org/adulted.
The Adult Education & Family Literacy program provides educational services to adults, including teaching English as a Second Language, preparation to take the Illinois High School Equivalency test in English or Spanish, U.S. Citizenship preparation, basic reading and math, and one-to-one reading tutoring for beginning adult readers. Programs also include manufacturing and health careers.
All classes are free.
Adult Education and Family Literacy programs for fall include:

• Family Literacy - Parent/Child Interaction: This educational class is for children who have a parent enrolled in an Adult Education and Family Literacy program. During the child's class, the parent who enrolls the child must also participate in a half-hour parent/child activity.
• The Catherine M. Lee Women's and Children's Center: Female immigrants will gain helpful skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing English in order to successfully find employment and help their children in school. Children who are 5 or younger may attend early childhood classes while their mothers attend various classes.
• College and Career Ready Classes: The goal of this class is to prepare students to make a successful transition to postsecondary education or high demand jobs.
