Take a StoryWalk® With Rolling Meadows Park District and Rolling Meadows Library
Mini Rabbit definitely isn't lost! He will soon be found along the new StoryWalk® path leading from Community Center Park to Rolling Meadows Library.
"Mini Rabbit is Not Lost" by John Bond will be the first featured story in the StoryWalk® project presented through a partnership with Rolling Meadows Park District, Rolling Meadows Park District Foundation, Rolling Meadows Library and Friends of the Rolling Meadows Library. A grand opening featuring a ribbon cutting and a variety of family activities is set for noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug.1, at Community Center Park, located behind the Community Center at 3705 Pheasant Drive.
"We have a wonderful lineup of activities planned to celebrate the unveiling of this amazing project,"said Recreation Supervisor Kailey Schwartzhoff. "We look forward to seeing families connect and enjoy stories along the path for years to come."
Activities will take place near the playground and include:
• Free hot dogs and popcorn (while supplies last)
• Face painting
• Balloon twisting
• Bubble show by Glowby the Bubbler
• Walk the path while reading "Mini Rabbit is Not Lost"
Pages of the book will be displayed along the path, which begins at Community Center Park, follows through South Salk Park and ends at Rolling Meadows Library. A full map is available at rmparks.org.
Founded in 2007 by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, StoryWalk® was created to promote a love of reading and physical activity.
"StoryWalk® combines two important components for families and youth - literacy and getting outdoors enjoying the parks," said Kevin Romejko, executive director of the Rolling Meadows Park District. "We're thrilled to partner with the Rolling Meadows Library to bring this exciting new addition to our community and enhance the opportunity for visitors of all ages to play, learn and grow."
