Sweet chocolate flows in Long Grove at Strawberry Festival

The annual Strawberry Festival in Long Grove is back after a one-year hiatus due the COVID-19 pandemic.

That's sweet news for fans of strawberries and chocolate like Michael Hohm and his girlfriend Meredith Anderson of Spring Grove who plan their year around the festival.

Holm describes those small guilty pleasures as he feeds one to Meredith.

"They are delicious. It tastes fresh. The chocolate is nice and dark so it mixes really well," he said. "We try to come every chance we get. It is the highlight of our year."

Chocolate-covered strawberry kebabs, chocolate-covered bananas, cheesecake, and pretty much anything you can put the word strawberry in front of is there for the tasting.

The downtown event in historic Long Grove runs through Sunday.

Michael Hohm and Meredith Anderson, both of Spring Grove, had just finished a chocolate doughnut, then moved on to the chocolate-covered strawberry kebab. "They are delicious. It tastes fresh. The chocolate is nice and dark so it mixes really well," Hohm said. Mark Welsh/mwelsh@dailyherald.com
