What traditional events were adapted for the pandemic and how?

Students at Glenbrook South came together to host a number of events throughout the school year, despite the untraditional year. Due to social distancing guidelines, our theater performances were filmed and produced by GBS students and available to stream for the community to enjoy. Students hosted a Fall Fest in place of traditional homecoming events that included a drive by parade. In the spring, an outdoor pep rally organized by grade levels was held as a homecoming event prior to both JV and Varsity football games.

What were the most significant challenges faced by the Class of 2021 and how did they overcome them?

The most significant challenge the senior class faced was staying connected to school with a mix of in-person and remote learners throughout the school year. The students adapted to finding new ways to celebrate traditional milestones for their last year of high school. They persevered through these challenges with flexibility and optimism.

Principal's reflections on the Class of 2021:

The Class of 2021 will always be remembered for persevering through the most difficult school year of their lives with both grace and positivity. We have been continually impressed by our seniors for their dedication to continuing their learning and their athletic and extracurricular involvement. They did not let the challenges of the pandemic get in the way, and they did their best to make the most out of a difficult situation. We are proud of their work, their accomplishments, and the young adults they have become. We wish them all the best as they continue their journeys beyond Glenbrook South.
