North Central resuming summer camps for young athletes

After a yearlong hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, North Central College in Naperville is resuming its sports camps for young athletes this summer.

Kids and teens ages 7 to 18 are eligible to participate in a range of activities, including baseball, basketball, cheer, football and soccer, according to a news release from the college.

Held at the college's athletic facilities, including the Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium and the Zimmerman Baseball Field, the camps will be led by professional North Central coaches with support from counselors, many of whom are NCAA Division III athletes, officials said.

The college has developed summer camp health and safety procedures that include mask requirements, social distancing, daily self-screening and capacity restrictions based on public health guidance.

After running a limited camp schedule this summer, North Central officials plan to roll out a full slate of athletic, academic and fine arts programs during summer 2022.
