Glenview Chamber presents its first hiring fair

The Glenview Chamber of Commerce is adding something new to its repertoire of activities.

On May 22, the chamber will host a free hiring fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Glenview Park Center, 2400 Chestnut Ave., in the main gym.

Businesses will hold open interviews with potential applicants at the event.

"The chamber is doing everything it can to support our businesses and boost the local economy," said Meghan Kearney, Glenview Chamber of Commerce deputy executive director. "We're hoping that this hiring fair is a success."

Businesses represented include Associated Bank, Baird & Warner, Burger Fi, GV's Heating & Cooling, Glenview Grind, Glenview Park District, Grandpa's Place, Kiddie Academy Glenview, the Village of Glenview and Yard House.

The Glenview Chamber is partnering with the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, which will bring several other businesses, primarily restaurants, to the hiring fair.

The event will follow CDC protocols with spacing, masks, temperature checks and staggered arrival times. The entrance to this event is on the west side of the Park Center building.

Though the job fair is a new chamber event, not all traditional events are back just yet.

The Glenview Chamber of Commerce's Summer Fest has been canceled for 2021, due to anticipated low numbers because of the pandemic. Summer Fest hopes to return in 2022.

The chamber's annual golf outing at Glenview Park Golf Club will be held Aug. 24. Other chamber events, such as Holiday in the Park and Bites & Brews, will both be held after Thanksgiving.

"We're thrilled to be meeting back in person again, hearing about all the exciting happenings with our businesses," Kearney said. "We've all been craving some in-person interaction for way too long, and we're excited to be back."
