Addison Park District Senior Club assembles COVID-19 readiness kits

On Sept. 21, Addison Mayor Rich Veenstra worked alongside the Addison Park District Senior Club to assemble 1,000 COVID-19 Readiness Kits.

"Addison has faced many challenges over the years, and we have learned that no challenge is insurmountable when we all come together and help one another," Veenstra said. "The pandemic is no different, and I'm proud of the way our community, once again, is coming together to support each other."

Each kit contains disposable masks, hand sanitizer and educational materials.

The enclosed literature promotes the Illinois Department of Public Health's "3 W's" Campaign - wash hands, wear masks, watch distance - as well as job training and rent assistance information.

For children, there are even COVID-related coloring books and colored pencils.

Distribution will begin in early October in various areas of the Addison community, and then continue on a weekly basis.
