Pedestrian hit, killed in Streamwood

A pedestrian died Wednesday afternoon after he was struck by a truck in Streamwood, authorities said.

Streamwood police said a 2007 Mack truck hit the unidentified man shortly after noon on the 500 block of South Bartlett Road, just north of the intersection with Streamwood Boulevard. A preliminary investigation reveals the truck was traveling south on South Bartlett Road when the pedestrian was struck in the roadway, officials said in a statement.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on the man, authorities said. An ambulance from the Streamwood Fire Department then took him to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck wasn't injured.

Police say they are awaiting confirmation of the man's identity and trying to notify his family members.

No citations have been issued at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
