Naperville fire officials investigating fire at strip mall

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a late-night kitchen fire at a Naperville strip mall.

Officials say a witness called 911 at 10:24 p.m. to report smoke coming from the mall, which includes the Joy Yee restaurant, on the 1000 block of east Ogden Avenue.

Crews arrived withing five minutes to find smoke coming from the roof and a visible fire in the kitchen.

The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes and no one was injured.

Naperville fire officials credit the restaurant's kitchen hood suppression system for limiting the spread of fire and minimizing damage.

The restaurant was declared uninhabitable pending further inspection.
