Toss bags, do karaoke, enjoy rides at this weekend's Wauconda Fest

The Wauconda Park District is gearing up to host its annual celebration of summer.

Wauconda Fest 2019 will run Thursday through Sunday, June 27-30, in Cook Park, 600 N. Main St. Wauconda.

Festival hours are 5-10 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight June 29 and noon to 9 p.m. June 30. Planned festivities include carnival rides, a wine and craft beer tasting tent, the annual car show, a craft show, karaoke, a police dog demonstration, water fights and more.

Admission is $3, which gets attendees a button good for all four days.

Ride specials will include $1 tickets on Thursday (2-3 tickets per ride) and $23 wristbands for unlimited rides from noon to 5 p.m. available on Saturday and Sunday.

Musical acts include Blooze Brothers on Thursday, Libido Funk Circus and Modern Day Romeos Friday, Dixie Crush and ARRA on Saturday, and Kaleidoscope Eyes and Exit 147 on Sunday.

The car show will take place Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with set up and registration from 8-11 a.m. Registration is $15 for show cars. Trophies will be presented at 3 p.m. for the top three in each of over 25 classes, plus Best of Show for custom and stock cars. For information about the car show, call Roy or Sue Tocha, at (847) 526-6361.

The annual Wauconda Fest Bags Tournament will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday for adults and 2:30 p.m. Sunday for parent/teen teams. Registration is $25 per adult team and $10 per parent/teen team. A karaoke contest will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Bags registration can be done in advance or at the fest; karaoke registration should be done in advance, because the contest is limited to 20 contestants and the DJ will need to have the contestants' songs of choice on hand.
