Addison library board seeks applicants

Addison residents are always welcome at the Addison Public Library Board meetings, but between now and June 30, one resident will have the opportunity to become a trustee.

The library is accepting applications for the vacant seat on the board of trustees until June 30. The new trustee will serve until the next election in April 2021.

The board is responsible for a number of things, including being involved with strategic planning, writing policies that determine library regulations, and finalizing the library's annual budget.

To be considered, interested applicants must complete a trustee application, which can be found on the library's website. Additionally, applicants must be a registered voter who has resided within the incorporated limits of the village of Addison for at least one year.

"Our library is a vital community center dedicated to lifelong learning and literacy and serving residents of all ages. Our success depends on the advocacy, commitment and dedication of its board members," said Executive Director Mary Medjo Me Zengue.

"We are seeking someone who supports the mission of the library and is willing to share their time and talent in service to the community, ensuring our continued success."

After the June 30 application deadline closes, current trustees will select applicants for interviews in July 2019.

The accepted applicant will begin serving immediately upon appointment.

The board meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of every month in the boardroom on the third floor of the library. The meetings are open to the public.

Paper copies of the application will be available at library service desks. Applicants may also contact Executive Director Mary Medjo Me Zengue at medjo@addisonlibrary.org or (630) 458-3300.
