Endorsements: Drake, D'Amore, Demonte for Warren Township District 121 Board
Voters in Warren Township High School District 121 have four solid candidate choices for filling three school board seats in the April 2 election.
One incumbent -- board member and President Thomas Drake -- is seeking re-election. Rico D'Amore, Tony DeMonte and Bency Beals are the challengers. Each spot on the ballot is for a four-year term.
All four candidates are strong contenders and demonstrate plenty of concern and care for the students and the district's future. We endorse Drake, D'Amore and DeMonte, who demonstrate the most knowledge about the issues facing the high school and its future.
Drake is a solid leader who is committed to listening to other board members and community members alike, while improving transparency with everyone. He acknowledges that board meetings aren't readily available to view online and proposes using social media as well as filling a communications position.
D'Amore and DeMonte have clear goals in mind regarding district issues like school funding, a solar project and union talks. Their previous civic involvement will only serve to benefit the board when tackling these issues.
Beals is passionate about Warren Township and thoughtful. The issues are important to her, but she lacks the detailed knowledge her fellow candidates possess. We urge her to stay involved.
